New appointee to take over at Borouge

Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri will take over as the chief executive officer designate of Abu Dhabi Polymers, production company for the huge Borouge 2 project in the Gulf state, on October 1.

Succeeding Harri Bucht, he will have responsibility for an investment which will triple the capacity to 2 million tonnes a year by 2010 with new ethylene, PE and PP capacity.

Bucht has presided over the successful progress of Borouge, a joint venture between Borealis and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) from its start up in 2001, since which time 2.3 million tonnes of polyethylene have been produced.

The operation has completed more than eight million man hours without a lost time accident and was the first Gulf company to commit to the principles of the Responsible Care Global charter. Now, Bucht is transferring to the Borealis Middle East and Asia office in Abu Dhabi focusing on new business developments in the region.

His successor brings 20 years of experience in production and management of production facility projects and was most recently assistant general manager at Gasco, one of the Adnoc group companies.
